The best of the best instructors are joining us this March 23-26 at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, including Debora Mauser. Do you have any pre-Bead Fest rituals that you always practice before a Workshop?
“I reread all instructions and make changes if I have found easier/better ways. I gab with my teacher friends and try to find at least one time for many of us to get together, even if just for breakfast. Teaching is hard work and taking a break with friends allows me to re-energize.”
Have you ever had an epic fail while creating a piece of jewelry? It’s okay. No one is perfect!
“Oh yea!! Learning to solder bezels was a real challenge for me, and sometimes the bezel gods still aren’t kind, but practice has mad the process less scary and more predictable.”
In addition to creating jewelry art, do you practice any other art forms?
“I crochet, I bake and now I am learning to work with leather, making purses, and jewelry.”
How do you come up with inspiration for your designs?
“There is no set thing that inspires me, movement, texture, color. When my muse is not happy I go into the studio and just start cleaning up, maybe making ear wires, anything to get me going. Often I find a stones, some metal, and before I know it I have started something new.”
What is your favorite part of teaching jewelry enthusiasts at Bead Fest?
“Sharing, and the ‘ahh haa’ moment, when a student learns a new technique and I know I have helped them in their journey.”
Do you have any essential tips for beginner jewelry artists?
“Practice and be kind to yourself, it’s a learning process!”
Who (or what) is your spirit animal?
“The wolf, strong, independent, wild!”
