What advice do you have for those who are trying to turn their passion into a business?
It’s good to have a story so you can talk about what makes your work unique. This is how you connect with people who want to buy your jewelry.
What is your favorite part of leading workshops at Bead Fest?
It’s the students! I work a lot with Beadalon and Jesse James Beads and there are a lot of repeat students that we get to see at each Bead Fest. It makes it more personal. For me, I really love making special connections with people who love jewelry making as much as I do.
What is your favorite Bead Fest memory?
One year ago at Bead Fest Summer, Jesse James Beads and I came up with the idea to throw a tailgate party before Bead Fest. We played jock jam music and had breakfast snacks. It was really fun! We just hung out and talked to people outside.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
All of the inspiration is really in the materials and combining them with mixed media techniques to make them my own. I love mixing and matching unexpected things together from colors to materials.
What are you most looking forward to at Bead Fest Fall in Tacoma?
Tacoma is a super beautiful area and a first-time show is always exciting! I’m really looking forward to meeting new people, too.
